Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today launched road safety awareness video with Brand ambassador of road safety campaign actor Akshay Kumar in New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gadkari said, the priority of the Government is to reduce road accidents. He said, the number of people killed in road accidents is much more than the total lives lost in wars.
The Minister said, road safety has to be a people’s movement. Mr Gadkari said, his Ministry has written to Home Ministry to consider the good Samaritans in road accidents also for getting National Bravery Awards. He urged people to come forward without fear to help accident victims.
Mr Gadkari expressed confidence that through the special videos the awareness about road safety will increase.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Akshay Kumar said, when he got to know the shocking facts and figures related to road accidents which can be prevented, he was immediately on board for the Road Safety Campaign to help create awareness.
