Ranchi: Jharkhand Government will not allow the area-specific relaxations provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs in red, orange and green zones during the lockdown 3.0 till 17 May.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced the decision after a high-level meeting at the state secretariat on Sunday.
Soren tweeted, “As migrant workers, students and others are returning home from other states. As a precautionary measure, lockdown would continue in Jharkhand for the next two weeks. This is necessary to protect the health of the people of the state. The new directions of the Centre regarding relaxations would not be implemented in Jharkhand for now.”
Around 950,000 people, including migrant workers, students and others, who are stranded outside Jharkhand, have approached the government, an official source said.
Over four thousand migrant workers (from Hyderabad) and students from Kota have now been returned to the state. While another train from Kota will be reaching Dhanbad late on Sunday night.
Notably, twelve out of the 24 districts of the state is being affected with COVID-19, the total number of positive cases rushed to 115 with 3 deaths while 22 have recovered.
The state capital Ranchi is in the red zone while Bokaro, Dhanbad, Garhwa, Hazaribagh, Deoghar, Ramghar, Simdega, Giridih, Koderma, Chatra and Jamtara are in the orange zone while Jamshedpur, Dumka, Godda, Gumla, Latehar, Loherdaga, Palamu, Sahebganj, Seraikela Kharsawan, Chaibasa and Khunti are in the green zone.
