Ranchi: Lockdown restrictions have been extended till July 31 in Jharkhand amidst a sharp surge in Coronavirus infection cases. The total cases of COVID-19 have gone up to 2294 in the State.
Chief Secretary Jharkhand, Sukhdev Singh on Friday evening issued an order to extend the lockdown restrictions in State till July 31 to combat COVID 19 pandemic.
The State Government issued the directive to all the government departments across the state and asked the officials for strict implementation. The order reveals that all activities permitted prior to this order shall remain permitted and the order shall come into force with immediate effect.
Schools, colleges and other educational institutions will remain closed till 31 July. Religious places including temples will also be closed till the end of July, it stated.
On Thursday the State Government allowed e-commerce portals to sell essential and non-essential items, sporting activities in stadiums, arenas and sports complexes without spectators and walking, jogging and running exercises in open spaces. There was also demand from various agencies to open more sectors.
The country saw the highest single-day spike in Coronavirus cases as 17,296 new cases were reported on Friday. The number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in India has crossed 4.90 lakh.
