Ranchi: Professor Dr Gopal Pathak, the first and former Vice-Chancellor of Jharkhand Technical University took charge as the new Chancellor of Sarla Birla University here on Tuesday.
Dr Pathak graduated in Civil Engineering from BIT Mesra in 1977 and studied ME (Civil) from the same institute. After this, he obtained a PhD. He contributed to the Civil Engineering Department at BIT in the year 1980.
He became a professor in the year 2000 and Coordinator of the Environmental Science and Engineering Group at BIT Mesra. He also holds various administrative positions at BIT Mesra including, Dean, Student Welfare, Dean, Administration and Campus Development and Dean, Faculty Development and Head Civil Department.
Earlier, Pathak was appointed as a Visiting Scholar, Fellow, Professor at the University of Technology, Sydney (1997), Ningbo University (2007), Princeton University (2009) and Centre for Sustainable Development & Global Competitiveness (2011).
On the contribution of Prof. Dr Gopal Pathak as Vice-Chancellor in Sarala Birla University, Dr Pradeep Kumar Verma, Chief Executive Officer of the University and Registrar Dr Vijay Kumar Singh, welcomed him.
