RNS: Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2020 will be presented to the legendary Asha Parekh. During Friday’s ceremony in New Delhi for the National Film Awards, she will receive the honour.
It was announced by Anurag Thakur, minister of information and broadcasting, that Parekh would receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Selection Jury Award for her outstanding contributions to Indian cinema over the course of her career. He also revealed that President Droupadi Murmu will serve as host for the 68th Annual National Film Awards ceremony on September 30.
Asha Parekh is not just an outstanding Indian traditional dancer, but also a well-known film actress, director, and producer. She began her acting career when she was a child, making her debut as the film’s heroine in Dil Deke Dekho. Kati Patang, Teesri Manzil, Love in Tokyo, Aya Saawan Jhoom Ke, Aan Milo Sajna, and Mera Gaon Mera Desh are just a few of the films in which she has appeared.
Another honour bestowed upon Parekh is the Padma Shri, which she received in 1992. From 1998 to 2001, she presided over the Central Board of Film Certification.
