RNS: CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML) Jamshedpur and SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) joined hands aiming to pursue joint research and development projects between in the areas of innovation, fundamental research, and technology development.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by BK Tiwari, Executive Director (Operations), SAIL-BSL and Dr. SK Pal, Head (Research Planning & Business Development), CSIR-NML. Chief General Manager (Maintenance) Sharad Gupta signed the MoU as a witness.
The objective of this MoU is to conduct joint R&D projects between CSIR-NML Jamshedpur and SAIL-BSL related to innovation, fundamental research and technology development leading to new product development, quality improvement of products and raw materials and Specific energy consumption and carbon footprint can be reduced, informed a Public Relation official of BSL.
These projects will hopefully result in the creation of new products, an improvement in the quality of products and raw materials, and a reduction in specific energy consumption and carbon footprint.
Speaking on the occasion, Tiwari said, this MoU will assist Bokaro Steel Plant in joint research and development projects in a variety of areas, including improving product and raw material quality and reducing the plant’s carbon footprint.
He expressed confidence that through this MoU, BSL’s experience in this field and the technical knowledge of CSIR-NML scientists will aid in the discovery of innovative solutions to current challenges.
CSIR-NML scientists also stated that this MoU will allow both parties to collaborate on research in steel production, Industry 4.0, and digital transformation.
Besides others Chief General Manager (EMD) PK Baisakhia, Chief General Manager (CA&C) Bipin Sartape, Senior Scientist, MNP Division, CSIR-NML Dr. Ganesh Chalwadi, Scientist, AMP Division, CSIR-NML Dr. Suman Tiwari , Senior Scientist, MTE Division, CSIR-NML Biraj Kumar Sahu, Saurabh Singh, Assistant General Manager (EMD) and other officers were present there.
