RNS: ‘Bagless Days’ was organized at DPS Chas for the students from Nursery to VIII on the theme of India’s G20 Presidency and International Year of Millets to strengthen the knowledge of the students about India’s global recognition.
The event also sought to expand learning beyond holistic development textbooks. The kids had plenty of hands-on learning exercises. Nursery infants enjoyed cutting geometrical forms and making scenery with cut-outs, Students palm-printed insects and Primary kids liked tearing-pasting.
The creative students of class-I performed the ‘Label the Millet’ activity. The children were not only educated but also sensitized about the G20 theme.
For the students of classes VI to VIII PowerPoint presentations on G20 Presidency, taking forward the virtue of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or “One Earth One Family One Future” based on Sanskrit scriptures that emphasize various forms of life, including humans, animals, plants and microorganisms, as well as their importance in both the Earth and the Universe was conducted. The students were given an integrated project to do, and a creative worksheet was also given to them to measure how much they had learned.
The school has always had the purpose of ‘No Child is Left Behind’; hence every student was involved in some creative and fun course to enrich their mind and provide them with ample hands-on experience.
Expressing her views in this regard, Dr. Hemlata S Mohan, Chief Mentor of DPS Chas Bokaro said that the environment is a global interest as well as an individual responsibility for us. While we strive for progress, we also envision global progress. The Bagless Schooling has been a great learning and stress buster for the students.
Deepali Bhuskute, officiating principal of DPS Chas Bokaro, said that through ‘Bagless Days’, children are not only getting information but also helping them to understand the global bond and the virtue of service before self.
Suresh Agarwal, Secretary of D. S. Memorial and a member of DPS Chas, was happy about the hands-on learning and wished the students a good future and great learning.
