DCGI approves radiological and nuclear emergency drugs developed by DRDO

RNS: Drugs Controller General of India has permitted Scott-Edil Pharmacia Ltd in Himachal Pradesh and Skanttr Lifescience in Gujarat to produce and sell Prussian blue insoluble formulations.

The WHO lists it as a radiological and nuclear emergency medication. The Military Ministry stated that Pru-DecorpTM and PruDecorp-MG would market the medicine.

Cesium, Thallium, and its API are decontaminated with the formulations. Industry produced the medication using technologies from Defence Research and Development Organisation’s Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences, Delhi, a laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary, the Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairperson DRDO, thanked the organisation and industry. He said the DRDO’s Technology Development Fund effort to promote the sector to accomplish Aatmanirbhar Bharat’s vision of medicinal formulations was successful.
