RNS: The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) successfully performed two consecutive flight tests of the Very Short Range Air Defence System missile on Tuesday.
The test flight took place at the Odisha Integrated Test Range near Chandipur.
Flight tests were conducted using a ground-based man portable launcher against high-speed unmanned aerial targets that mimicked approaching and retreating aircraft. According to the Defense Ministry, the targets were successfully intercepted, completing all mission objectives.
The missile is a Man Portable Air Defence System designed to counter low-altitude aerial threats at short distances.
It was created and developed indigenously by Hyderabad’s Research Centre Imarat in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners.
