IIT Guwahati inks MoU with Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospital to promote Cardiac Research

RNS: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sri Sathya Sai Heart Hospitals in Ahmedabad and Rajkot to promote cardiac research and provide digital transformation, upgradation, and information sharing related to cardiac diseases.

Hospitals are run and managed by Prashanti Medical Services and Research Foundation (PMSRF).

The agreement was virtually signed in the presence of Justice MR Shah, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Justice Sandeep Mehta, Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court, and Prof Dipankar Bandyopadhyay, Head, Jyoti and Bhupat Mehta School of Health Sciences & Technology, IIT Guwahati.

The MoU was signed for a term of two years and can be extended by mutual agreement of both parties.

The agreement calls on both parties to work together to strengthen the overall digital healthcare ecosystem related to congenital heart disease. Establish a high-end Research and Development facility at IIT Guwahati in partnership with the Government of Assam. The MoU also reveals to collaborate on digital transformation, upgrade, and information sharing for the benefit of cardiac patients in the country’s north-east.

“IIT Guwahati is happy to work with PMSRF for this noble cause of delivering a better healthcare facility to cardiac patients,” stated Professor Parameswar K. Iyer, Officiating Director, IIT Guwahati, during the MoU signing event.

The North-East region of the country is improving in every field, including healthcare, education, tourism, and skill development, thanks to collaborative efforts led by the Government of Assam, he said.

“IIT Guwahati will establish a multi-speciality affiliated hospital and has already begun working on R&D and data collection for Cardiac, Cancer, and Pediatric care, among other things. IIT Guwahati is excited to offer value to healthcare services,” added Professor Iyer.

This arrangement would assist in strengthening the capacity of the health institutions managed by the state government to deliver cardiac care for paediatric patients in a timely and effective manner.
