In its efforts to expand its involvement in power generation, transmission, and distribution activities, DVC is all set to invest Rs 60,000 crore; planned to establish Thermal, Solar, and Pump Storage units throughout the country, aiming to produce an additional 8,000 MW of electricity.

Ramnaresh Singh, Chairman of DVC, unveiled their ambitious objective of generating an extra 8,000 MW of electricity by 2030 during a Sunday media interaction at the Director’s Building in Chandrapura.

Singh stated that they presently possess a power generation capacity of 7,000 MW and have outlined an estimated investment of Rs 60,000 crore to generate the additional power through Thermal and Renewable energy units across the nation.

According to Singh, this plan entails the development of 3,720 MW of Thermal units solely through Brownfield projects, including 1,320 MW at Raghunathpur, 1,600 MW at Koderma, and 800 MW at Durgapur. He further added, “In addition, we will establish 4,500 MW of Renewable energy units, comprising 2,000 MW of Solar units (both Ground mount and Floating) and 3,500 MW of Pump Storage units (1,500 MW at Lugu Pahari and 1,000 MW at Panchet in Jharkhand).”

Singh mentioned that the government had granted approval for this plan, and DVC is working tirelessly to accomplish this target within the next ten years.

Furthermore, Singh shared the exciting news of DVC’s acquisition of the Tubed Coal Mines in Jharkhand and the initiation of coal production. He described this mine as a “boon for DVC,” as it will eliminate any coal shortages that previously impeded power generation.
