RNS: A two-day yoga training session finished at DPS Bokaro on Sunday. The workshop was part of an effort to elevate yoga to Olympic levels. The Yogasanas Sports Association Jharkhand hosted the event, which drew over 70 people from all over the state.
The workshop aimed to give yoga teachers and officials essential knowledge and skills about yoga asanas. Both theory and practice of yoga were discussed in the workshop by yoga professionals and experts.
Vipin Kumar Pandey, the Association’s Secretary, spoke about efforts to get yoga recognized as a sport in National Games and other big sporting events. He pointed out the job opportunities in yoga and the chance of government jobs for national and international yoga athletes.
Yoga championships at the district level is scheduled from 15 July to 15 August at Bokaro, followed by state-level championships from 15 August to 15 September. The workshop helped the participants prepare for these contests.
The workshop also showed new ways to present yoga asanas. Dance, music, and rhythm were used to make the sessions more fun and artistic. The participants also learned how to evaluate yoga and the role of instructors in training athletes.
The program coordinator, Dr. S.K. Ghoshal spoke about the National Yogasana Sports Federation’s (now Yogasana Bharat) work to promote yoga as an exciting sport by introducing new techniques and ideas.
Dr Jaydeep Arya, Secretary-General of the National Yogasana Sports Federation, hoped the workshop would help develop a new group of skilled yoga instructors and officials in Jharkhand.
Dr A. S. Gangwar, the Bokaro District Yoga Asanas Sports Association’s President and Principal of DPS Bokaro, said that the workshop would be necessary to encourage a healthier community through yoga. He added that district and state-level championships are coming, and this workshop aims to make yoga asanas more popular and prepare for participation in significant sporting events.”
