RNS: As IIT-ISM Dhanbad is gearing up for its Centenary Celebration (scheduled in 2026), funds keep pouring into the institute kitty as Mohinder Singh Gulati, a Petroleum Engineering alumnus of 1962 batch, has pledged to donate Rs 10 crore for the Multi-Purpose Convention hall in the proposed centenary building of the institute.
Notably, a person gets the naming rights of 4 classrooms in the Centenary Building by donating Rs 2 crore, naming rights to three seminar halls by donating Rs 5 crore, naming right to a conference hall by donating Rs 10 crore, naming right to a hall of fame by donating Rs 15 crore and naming right of an auditorium by donating Rs 30 crore, informed Rajni Singh, Dean, Media & Branding of ISM.
The multipurpose convention to be built in Centenary Building, for which naming rights will be provided to Gulati, will have a seating capacity of around 600 people.
Professor RM Bhattacharjee, Dean (International Relations and Alumni Affairs) said, “IIT (ISM) is grateful to its alumnus Prof Mohinder Singh Gulati (Petroleum Engineering, Batch of 1962) for his generosity and trust, who has pledged to donate Rs 10 Crore for the centenary fund of IIT (ISM) towards funding the convention hall of proposed centenary building”.
Professor Rajeev Upadhyay, Associate Professor of the Petroleum Engineering Department who is also the associate dean of Alumni Affairs, said, “The institute humbly acknowledges the generosity of Gulati and confers the naming right to him for the convention hall in the proposed Centenary building.”
“I am sure all alumni, living in any corner of the world, are passionate and emotional about our great institute and fully charged with nostalgia while preparing ourselves for the greatest celebration of the Centenary Year in 2026,” said Professor Upadhyay.
“Your noble gesture is highly motivating for others to come forward in making our dream a reality and creating history through our humble efforts of giving back to our Alma Mater in the most befitting manner while celebrating the Centennial Birthday in the form of the Multi-purpose Centenary Building,” added Upadhyay while acknowledging the contribution of Gulati.
Earlier in March, Avlesh Singh, a 2005 batch Mineral Engineering graduate of IIT (ISM), announced donating Rs 1 crore to the Centenary fund.
