Asian Games: Indian Men’s volleyball team beat South Korea

RNS: In the Hongzhou Asian Games, the Indian men’s volleyball team stunned a higher-ranked South Korea 3-2 in a five-set thriller in Zhejiang, China today. In a neck-on-neck contest, India recorded 25-27, 29-27, 25-22, 20-25, 17-15 victory over Korea, which is a three-time Asian Games gold medallist and last edition’s silver medallist. India is ranked 73rd, while Korea is ranked 27th in the tournament.

Yesterday, in its opening match, India outclassed Cambodia 3-0.

India’s men have a storied history at the Asian Games, boasting a collection of three medals – one silver and two bronze.

On the women’s side, India’s volleyball team is preparing for their first match in Pool A, against North Korea on September 30. Despite their talent, the women’s team has yet to finish on the podium at this famous continental event.
