Ranchi: In a significant move to enhance healthcare services in the state, the government is taking proactive steps to provide advanced medical facilities to the general public. In a noteworthy development, Chief Minister Hemant Soren signed a sub-lease deed on Thursday between the Ranchi Municipal Corporation and Apollo Hospital Enterprises Limited, Chennai.
This agreement paves the way for constructing the Apollo Multi Super Specialty Hospital in the Area Based Development zone of the Ranchi Smart City.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren acknowledged that the state’s healthcare system has faced challenges. Since taking office in 2019, the government has steadfastly worked towards improving healthcare services. This includes bolstering infrastructure in government hospitals, offering modern diagnostic and treatment facilities, increasing the number of healthcare professionals, and encouraging the establishment of private sector hospitals. These efforts ensure that people no longer need to travel outside the state or to larger cities for quality medical treatment.
CM urged Apollo Hospital Enterprises Limited, Chennai, to expedite the establishment of the Apollo Multi Super Specialty Hospital. He also instructed that the hospital’s ground-breaking ceremony (Bhoomi Pujan) should take place on November 15, coinciding with State Foundation Day.
The hospital will commence its Outpatient Department (OPD) services in the initial phase.
The hospital management confirmed that construction of the 250-bed hospital will commence soon, with the OPD being the first service to be offered. They further committed to providing employment opportunities for the local community, with general physicians and paramedical staff recruited from Jharkhand and specialist doctors in various departments.
CM expressed optimism that this agreement with Apollo Hospital Enterprises Limited will mark a significant milestone in providing world-class healthcare facilities, ultimately benefitting the state’s residents. Additionally, the project is expected to create new employment opportunities.
Under the agreement, Ranchi Municipal Corporation is leasing approximately 2.75 acres of land for 45 years, with the possibility of an extension based on the quality of work. Apollo Hospital Enterprises will establish a 250-bed multi-super speciality hospital within the Ranchi Smart City complex, offering services in cardiology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, general surgery, general medicine, paediatrics, and ENT, along with emergency services, radiology, pathology, dietary services, and a 24-hour ambulance service.
The Ranchi Smart City complex is envisioned to include educational institutions, schools, colleges, five-star hotels, shopping malls, offices, a medical college, and around 16,000 residential units. This development is expected to house a population of approximately 1.5 lakh residents, directly benefiting from the project.
The signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, Administrator of Ranchi Municipal Corporation Amit Kumar, Director of SUDA Amit Kumar, GM of Ranchi Smart City Corporation Rakesh Kumar Nandkuliyar, Ranchi Municipal Corporation’s Assistant Administrator Jyoti Kumar Singh, IT Officer Rajesh Kumar, and Dr. Karan Thakur, Vice President of Apollo Hospital Enterprises Limited, Chennai, along with Architectural Consultant Roshan John Chirayat.
