Israel urges India to declare Hamas as terrorist organization

#Israel seeks Indian action against Hamas following recent attacks.

New Delhi: In a significant diplomatic move, Israel has appealed to India to officially categorize the Palestinian militant group Hamas as a terrorist organization. The call comes in response to the recent aggressive assault on Israel by Hamas on October 7, prompting Israel to request that Indian authorities take action against the group.

Addressing reporters in New Delhi, Israeli Ambassador Naor Gilon emphasized the urgency of the matter, pointing out that numerous other nations have already designated Hamas as a terrorist organization. He expressed gratitude to India for its steadfast support of Israel’s efforts in countering Hamas and noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first world leaders to condemn the reprehensible attack.

Gilon acknowledged India’s influential global role, stating, “India is a very important moral voice in the world, and the important countries are with us.”

The recent escalation of hostilities was triggered by a series of major attacks launched by Hamas militants from Gaza on October 7. In response, Israel initiated a significant counter-offensive in Gaza. Ambassador Gilon clarified that Israel’s actions against Hamas aim to prevent any repetition of the brutality witnessed during the recent events.

The request from Israel adds to the ongoing global debate surrounding the classification of Hamas as a terrorist organization, as different nations hold varying positions on the matter.
