Dr. Kiran Seth inspires DPS Chas students with Indian Culture, Music

RNS: Dr Kiran Seth, founder of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Among Youth), visited DPS Chas Bokaro to educate and enhance young minds with Indian classical music and culture.

Dr. Kiran Seth, a former IIT Delhi professor and 2009 Padma Shri winner for his contributions to Indian classical music, is on an inspirational bicycle journey across India. He aims to educate youth about Indian culture and music, fitness, and environmental protection.

Dr. Seth taught DPS Chas students how to improve their concentration and academic performance by incorporating classical music and Indian culture into their daily lives. He stressed the importance of yoga, dancing, and classical music in developing young brains and academic success.

He shared his enthusiasm for Indian classical music and culture by emphasising the need to preserve and promote them, inspiring young people to recognise Indian culture’s beauty and richness. He also explored the morals and wisdom in these creative forms, emphasising their relevance in today’s fast-paced world.

Pro Vice Chairman N. Muralidharan and Director Dr Naveen Sharma welcomed Dr Seth and inaugurated the Heritage Lab in a special assembly. Dr Seth’s devotion to Indian culture and music, fitness, and environmental awareness inspired DPS Chas students and teachers.

DPS Chas Chief Mentor Dr Hemlata S. Mohan thanked Dr Seth for visiting the school. Such programmes would help students learn and appreciate Indian classical music, nurturing the next generation of performers and preserving the nation’s rich musical history, she said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sharma said music improves concentration, performance, and connectedness to our cultural heritage.

Officiating Principal Deepali Bhuskute also thanked Dr Seth for his informative visit and stressed that SPIC MACAY helps students honour and preserve India’s cultural diversity via Indian classical music.
