Court allows Hemant Soren to participate in Floor Test on 5 Feb.

RNS: A Special PMLA Court in Ranchi has granted permission for former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to participate in the upcoming Floor Test scheduled for February 5. Hemant Soren was recently arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged land scam on January 31.

Initially sent to 14 days of judicial custody, Hemant Soren is now on a 5-day remand with ED officials.

An application was filed in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court requesting his presence in the Assembly during the Floor Test.

In response to this request, Hemant Soren’s legal team presented various orders issued by the court in the past. After considering the application, the court has allowed Hemant Soren to participate in the crucial Floor Test.

Jharkhand Advocate General Rajiv Ranjan confirmed to the media that Hemant Soren has been granted permission to participate in the voting during the Floor Test scheduled for February 5.

Following Hemant Soren’s resignation and subsequent arrest, the coalition party members nominated Champai Soren as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. They promptly approached Governor CP Radhakrishnan, who extended an invitation to Champai Soren, the nominated leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) coalition, to take the oath as Chief Minister on Thursday.

Champai Soren has been entrusted with the responsibility of proving his majority on the floor of the House within the stipulated period of ten days, as per the governor’s directive.
