ESL Steel Limited has been, is and will continue to work tirelessly for the benefit and welfare of the society and community in areas where we are present.
ESL Steel Limited, under its commitment to the community around it has set up Vedanta ESL Skill School. This Residential Skill School centre is completely free of cost & provides sustainable employment opportunities to the youth. Even though the focus is on the people from our operational area, but other youth interested in joining the courses are also welcomed. In partnership with SEEDS it focuses on training students in trades like Solar PV Installation and Sewing Machine Operation which are duly certified by NSDC, ensuring industry-standard training.
The centre extends the impact beyond skill training by also focusing on the holistic development of the students through additional courses for Basic Computer Knowledge, Soft Skills Training, English Language Speaking and Personality Development skills, which helps these students immensely at the time of placement. Apart from the above, the centre organises various motivational sessions, art and craft classes, healthy competitions like debates etc. to further enhance their creativity and boost their overall confidence.
Solar PV Installation course is taught over a period of 2 months and the Sewing Machine Operation course is an intensive 6 weeks training programme. Batches of 25 to 30 youth per batch receive completely free residential training – including free food and lodging, teaching, assessment and placement.
ESL Skill School has achieved the unique distinction of over 80% placement of all its alumni till date. Presently, Vedanta ESL Skill School has imparted training to more than 400 students and 320+ have successfully received recruitment placement and joined the companies.
Those trained have been placed in companies like Adani Power, Mahindra Techo, Premier Energies, Blue Jersey Garments, Premier Knits, Anugraha Fashion Mills etc., with packages ranging between 1.2 – 1.8 Lakhs PA. In fact, all the trained candidates who pass out are given job placement – but some opt out of it to continue their studies, for entrepreneurial reasons & local business opportunities.
Recently, a batch of 30 who had all successfully completed their Solar PV Installers Trade training from Vedanta ESL Skill School were felicitated by DGM RO Ranchi of NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) Mr Suman S Sahu for not only successfully completing their course but all of them being placed with Hyderabad based Premier Energies.
