EC promises transparency: All Electoral Bond details to be published

RNS: Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar, affirmed the Election Commission’s commitment to transparency in the electoral process. Kumar announced that the Commission would disclose all details regarding the donors and receivers of electoral bonds, adhering to the Supreme Court’s directives.

Speaking at a press conference in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Kumar stated that the Commission would comply with the Supreme Court’s instructions regarding the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) or ballot papers in the upcoming elections. He made these remarks after assessing the election readiness for both the Lok Sabha and State elections.

The Supreme Court’s recent order mandated the State Bank of India to cease the issuance of electoral bonds immediately. Additionally, the Court directed the bank to furnish a comprehensive list of all donors to political parties to the Election Commission by 6 March.

The judgment further stipulated that the Election Commission must publish all details of electoral bond donors and recipients by March 13 of this year.

Assuring the public of the Commission’s preparedness, Kumar emphasized that they are fully equipped for the upcoming elections.
