Annual jalsa draws over 500 people at Madrassa Jamia Dar-ul-Qirat

RNS: Amid challenging weather conditions, more than 500 individuals gathered for the Annual Jalsa at the Madrassa in Madhuniya Village of Chas Block, Bokaro District. The event marked the conclusion of the yearly course at Madrassa Jamia Dar-ul-Qirat before students begin their annual holidays for Ramzan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

Established in 2016 (closed for years due to Covid), Madrassa Jamia Dar-ul-Qirat offers Islamic religious studies along with Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science, and Geography. The boys-only residential institution aims to prevent youth in Madhuniya and nearby villages from idleness.

Nazim (Principal) of Madrassa Jamia Dar-ul-Qirat, Maulana Asiruddin Ansari, shared, “We have over 100 students, with 27 residing in our hostels from far-flung areas like Madhupur and even West Bengal.” Maulana Asiruddin Ansari, who has led the village’s daily prayers for over 33 years, is highly respected and knowledgeable, guiding the Madrassa effectively.

Haji Qurban Ansari, the General Secretary, President, and Founder of the Madrassa, a 73-year-old senior citizen, visits the Madrassa daily since its inception. He explained, “Our Village Madhuniya already had a Maktab which imparts excellent religious studies to its girls since 1987. So we formed a committee of 15 people, out of which only 5 are from the village, and rest 10 members are from the neighbouring villages and we pooled our resources to establish this institution.”

Ansari added, “All the Madrassa students also receive formal education at Government Schools. Currently, more than 30 students are from nearby villages, showcasing the quality of education provided by our teachers.”

The Madrassa, with a sprawling campus of approximately half an acre, employs 5 teachers, a cook, and a guard, with many services provided by villagers pro bono
