# BJP invites 25 nations to join LS electoral campaign
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has extended invitations to diplomats from 25 nations and political parties from around the world to observe its campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The general election in India will take place in seven phases starting April 19, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
In a move to counter the narrative and allegations raised by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who has claimed during his speeches abroad and in India that democracy in India is under threat, the BJP has invited political parties from 25 countries to witness firsthand its campaign and election management strategies during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
According to media reports, 15 countries have accepted the invitations, including Nepal, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and several African nations, who will observe the BJP’s campaign.
According to the media reports, the BJP is planning a special briefing for representatives of political parties from different countries, followed by several groups of four to five leaders traveling during the third and fourth phases of the election.
These visits will last for three days, during which the leaders will attend rallies, meet with BJP booth workers, and observe the party’s operations, as per the report by the media.
“This is the first time in Indian electoral history that the BJP has invited international political parties to experience its campaign. We have invited more than 25 political parties, and 15 have confirmed their participation, mostly from neighboring countries but also from countries in the Far East and Africa,” reported NDTV, quoting the BJP’s Foreign Affairs Chief.
Despite concerns among Indian voters regarding unemployment and inflation, a Lokniti-CSDS study highlighted by The Hindu suggests that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong leadership and India’s increasing global significance will likely contribute to his re-election.
“The objective is to showcase the breadth and depth of the BJP’s campaign, which has led to its victories in consecutive Lok Sabha elections. We are eager for their visit to India. They will travel across the country to witness the BJP’s campaign firsthand,” the report added.
It is worth noting that the BJP secured 303 out of 543 seats in the 2019 general election and is aiming for a third consecutive term in office.
