Modi Urges Zelenskyy: Dialogue and Diplomacy Key to Ending Russia-Ukraine Conflict”

Italy: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, on Friday. During their discussion, Modi emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable methods to resolve the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

“Had a very productive meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. India is eager to further cement bilateral relations with Ukraine. Regarding the ongoing hostilities, I reiterated that India believes in a human-centric approach and that the way to peace is through dialogue and diplomacy,” Modi posted on X.

Zelenskyy had earlier extended his congratulations to Modi following his victory in the recent Indian general elections. Modi has now secured his third consecutive term as Prime Minister after his Bharatiya Janata Party won the polls.

In addition to meeting Zelenskyy, Modi also met with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to discuss strengthening the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the third term of the NDA Government.

“It was a delight to meet PM @RishiSunak in Italy. I reiterated my commitment to further strengthening the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the third term of the NDA Government. There is great scope to deepen ties in sectors like semiconductors, technology, and trade. We also talked about further cementing ties in the defence sector,” Modi stated.

Modi also had a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron during the G7 Summit. Earlier in the day, Modi arrived in Italy to participate in the Summit.
