New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a series of bilateral meetings during the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy. One of his key meetings was with French President Emmanuel Macron, where discussions centered on enhancing the partnership in defense, nuclear technology, space exploration, education, climate action, digital infrastructure, critical technologies, connectivity, and culture.
Both leaders expressed a desire to bolster strategic defense cooperation, with a specific emphasis on India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
They also pledged to expand collaboration in artificial intelligence, critical and emerging technologies, energy, and sports, with a focus on the upcoming AI Summit and the United Nations Oceans Conference in France next year.
PM Modi and President Macron stressed the importance of their strong Strategic Partnership for global stability and prosperity, committing to elevating it to new heights. Modi also extended his best wishes for the upcoming Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.
During his meeting with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Modi reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Discussions focused on deepening ties in areas such as semiconductors, technology, and trade, with a specific emphasis on strengthening defense cooperation.
Additionally, PM Modi met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to review bilateral relations and exchange views on the situation in Ukraine. Modi reiterated India’s support for a peaceful resolution to the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
Modi is scheduled to hold further bilateral discussions with G7 leaders, representatives from Outreach Countries, and international organizations.
