Hemant Soren walks out of jail

Ranchi: Hemant Soren today came out from Birsa Munda Central Jail after the High Court accepted his bail plea and granted him bail, marks the end of his judicial custody.

Soren had been incarcerated for 148 days on charges related to a land scam. He deposited two personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each at the Ranchi PMLA special court as per the court’s directives before his release.

Notably, Hemant Soren’s bail was secured with the personal guarantees of his brother and state government minister Basant Soren, along with Kumar Saurav.

The High Court, presided over by Justice Rangon Mukhopadhyay, had reserved its decision after concluding arguments from both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the defense during a hearing on June 13. The verdict was awaited and finally delivered today, allowing Soren to bail out.

The release of Hemant Soren has sparked positive reactions among his supporters and political allies, marking a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings related to the case.

Jharkhand Congress celebrated the bail of JMM leader Soren as a victory for justice. State Congress President Rajesh Thakur expressed satisfaction with the judiciary’s decision, emphasizing public confidence in the judicial process despite challenges and conspiracies.
