6th International Conference on Financial Markets & Corporate Finance Kicks Off at ISM Dhanbad

Dhanbad: The 6th International Conference on Financial Markets and Corporate Finance (ICFMCF) 2024 began today at the Indian Institute of Technology-Indian School of Mines (IIT-ISM) Dhanbad.

The two-day event, hosted by the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering, featured over 150 experts from across the globe at the Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre.

In his keynote address, Dr. Tirthankar Patnaik, Chief Economist at the National Stock Exchange (NSE), urged scholars to showcase Indian financial markets in high-quality international journals. “Make them see that Indian markets are worth studying,” Dr. Patnaik said, highlighting the differences between Indian and US markets in terms of trading centralization and regulatory focus. He stressed that India’s position as a leading market should be better represented in global academic literature.

Professor Balasingham Balachandran from Monash University, Malaysia, discussed the challenges of publishing in international journals and emphasized the need for engaging with these platforms.

Professor Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT (ISM), addressed the high failure rates of startups and the crucial role of technology and business synergy. Professor Bibhas Chandra, Head of the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering, spoke on the department’s achievements and the importance of the conference.

Conference Convener Professor Shashank Bansal announced that out of 230 submissions, 114 papers were selected for presentation across 14 technical sessions during the event.
