Power Minister holds talks with DVC Labor Union on critical issues, demands

Kolkata: Union Power Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, today engaged in discussions with representatives from the DVC Mazdoor Sangh at the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) Headquarters aiming to address critical issues concerning the corporation. The meeting was also focused on several key demands put forth by the union.

During the session, the DVC Mazdoor Sangh underscored several pressing matters, notably the urgent need to establish a new unit within the DVC. This initiative aims to bolster power generation capabilities in response to escalating regional energy demands.

Additionally, the union pressed for financial support from the government to facilitate the establishment of new units and other developmental projects. Such assistance, they argued, is essential for enhancing DVC’s financial stability and ensuring the successful execution of various schemes.

Another crucial issue highlighted by the union was the re-employment of 130 trained apprentices who recently completed their apprenticeship program at DVC. Emphasizing the importance of integrating these skilled individuals back into the workforce, the union noted that their retention would contribute significantly to DVC’s operational efficiency.

Tapan Kumar Das, General Secretary, and Sujit Roy, in-charge of the DVC Mazdoor Sangh, presented a comprehensive memorandum outlining these concerns to Minister Khattar. They further requested a follow-up meeting in Delhi to delve deeper into these issues and seek concrete solutions.

The meeting, which drew attendance from other prominent members of the Sangh including Biswarup Dasgupta, Shivani Roy, Chandrani Adhikari, and S.N. Bera, saw Minister Khattar attentively listening to the grievances and demands presented by the union.

He assured the representatives of a sincere consideration of their concerns, pledging to explore practical measures to address them effectively.

The outcome of this meeting underscores the ongoing dialogue between government officials and labor representatives in tackling pertinent issues within the energy sector, reflecting a commitment to fostering collaborative solutions for sustainable development, said an official.
