Barack Obama Backs Kamala Harris for 2024 Presidential Race

Washington: Former President Barack Obama has officially endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate for the upcoming presidential election.

On Friday, Obama confirmed his support for Harris, putting to rest any speculation about his position on her candidacy.

In a post on X, Obama expressed his confidence in Harris’s ability to lead, stating, “Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris.

We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us.”

Harris’s bid for the presidency gained momentum following the withdrawal of Joe Biden from the race earlier this week.

Biden, facing mounting pressure and skepticism over his performance and re-election prospects, announced his decision to step down just four months before the election.

In his statement on X, Biden reflected on his presidency, saying, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”
