Jamshedpur: The four-day Corporate Training program, MCBA-2024, focused on Mineral Characterisation, Beneficiation, and Agglomeration, wrapped up today at the CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML).
The training, attended by executive trainees from various Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) plants, was held from 23 to 26 July.
The program featured two daily sessions. Mornings were dedicated to lectures by NML scientists on relevant topics, while afternoons included hands-on demonstrations in a large-scale pilot plant. Dr. Ranjit Kumar Singh, the program coordinator, assured participants that NML’s scientists would continue to provide support for any issues that arise.
During the closing session, Dr. B. Ravi Kumar, Chief Scientist and Group Leader of the Micro Structure Engineering Group, presented certificates to the trainees. He expressed hope that the training would significantly benefit their work in mineral processing.
The feedback session highlighted the trainees’ appreciation for NML’s research and development efforts.
They noted that the training provided valuable insights into advanced technologies such as spiral separators, flotation, magnetic separators, fluidization, and pelletization. The trainees acknowledged that this knowledge would be highly beneficial in their day-to-day responsibilities.
Bipin Kumar Giri, Executive Director of Bhilai Mines, and Atanu Mukherjee, General Manager (MTI SAIL), both expressed their commitment to continuing this training program in collaboration with NML.
They emphasized that this training is just the beginning of a long-term partnership aimed at enhancing production and quality.
Dr. Shobhana Dey, Head of the Department of Mineral Processing, thanked the trainees for their feedback, stating that it would help in improving future training programs.
The successful organization of the program was attributed to the dedicated efforts of NML’s Mineral Processing Department scientists and technical staff, including Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohanta, Dr. Rajendra Kumar Rath, Dr. Ari Vidyadhar, Dr. Ajit Kumar Swain, Dr. Ganeshchalwadi, Avishek Kumar, Kalicharan Hembram, Abhijeet Mansingh, Dr. Kumari Ruby, Umachandra Oraon, Monica Sahu, and Jyoti Kumar.
