SAIL-BSL’s Gua Ore Mine Wins First Prize at Mines Safety Awards 2024

Kolkata: SAIL-BSL’s Gua Ore Mine, part of the Jharkhand Group of Mines, secured the first prize in the Open Cast Medium Category Mines at the esteemed Mine Safety Awards 2024.

The awards ceremony, hosted by the All India Mine Safety Association and supported by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), took place at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata.

BK Tiwari, Director-in-Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant, accepted the award. He was joined by Atanu Bhowmick, Director-in-Charge of Rourkela Steel Plant.

Other notable attendees included J Dasgupta, Executive Director (Mines),  Anoop Kumar, Executive Director (Collieries), and  Kamal Bhaskar, Chief General Manager, along with senior officers from BSL, Jharkhand Group of Mines, and Collieries Division.

The Mine Safety Awards (MSA) 2024 aim to promote exemplary safety practices in mining operations across India. The awards recognize and reward excellence in mine safety practices among participants from the coal, metal, and oil and gas mining sectors. By highlighting the commitment of these industries to maintaining the highest safety standards, the MSA seeks to foster a culture of continuous improvement and vigilance in mine safety.
