New Delhi: The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, concluded a meeting in New Delhi today, where various capital acquisition proposals were reviewed.
Among the proposals, the DAC granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the procurement of Advanced Land Navigation System (ALNS) for Armoured Fighting Vehicles (AFVs) of the Indian Army. This system boasts high levels of encryption and is resistant to spoofing.
The Ministry of Defence announced that, to bolster the capabilities of the Indian Coast Guard, the DAC has approved the procurement of 22 Interceptor Boats. These boats, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, are designed for quick interception and operations in shallow territorial waters.
They will be utilized for coastal surveillance, patrolling, search and rescue missions, and medical evacuations.
The Ministry highlighted that the ALNS Mk-II, compatible with the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (NAVIC), Global Positioning System (GPS), and Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS), offers exceptional accuracy in navigation.
It integrates seamlessly with Defence Series Maps, ensuring precise navigational applications for AFVs.
This equipment will be sourced from Bharat Electronics Limited under the Indian-Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured (IDDM) category.
