Laos Unveils World’s First Stamp Honoring Ayodhya’s Ram Lalla Statue

RNS: In a historic development, Laos has introduced the world’s first commemorative stamp celebrating the Ram Lalla statue from Ayodhya. The unveiling ceremony was conducted by India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, during his recent official visit to the Southeast Asian country.

The newly released stamp features the Ram Lalla statue, a revered symbol in Hindu mythology, which was consecrated in Ayodhya earlier this year. During his visit, Jaishankar also met with Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Saleumxay Kommasith, where he extended his thanks for Laos’ warm reception.

In an announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Jaishankar shared details of his trip, highlighting the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for ten Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) under the Mekong Ganga Cooperation framework and discussions on digital solutions collaboration.

Jaishankar’s visit to Laos is part of a broader diplomatic tour, which includes his ongoing participation in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Tokyo.

Notably, Situated in the heart of the Indochina Peninsula, Laos shares its borders with Myanmar and China to the northwest, Vietnam to the east, Cambodia to the southeast, and Thailand to the west and southwest. Vientiane, the capital and largest city, serves as its central hub.
