DPS Bokaro Hosts 2nd District Yogasana Sports Championship

Bokaro: Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro is hosting the 2nd Bokaro District Yogasana Sports Championship in collaboration with the Bokaro District Yogasana Sport Association (BDYSA). The two-day event began on Saturday, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for Yogasana in the Bokaro district.

The opening ceremony featured Chief Guest Vindhyavasini Kumari Sinha, a former member of the Indian World Champion Kabaddi team. The event showcased a stunning Yoga presentation inspired by the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh, as well as a dynamic dance performance themed around Martial Arts, which captivated the audience.

In her address, Sinha underscored the significance of yoga for physical and mental health, encouraging perseverance and dedication as keys to achieving success.

Dr. A. S. Gangwar, Principal of DPS Bokaro and President of BDYSA, expressed his enthusiasm for the active participation of local youth in promoting this ancient practice. “Regular yoga practice should be an integral part of our daily lives for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being,” he emphasized.

Dr. Surjeet Kumar Ghosal, Technical Head of the Jharkhand Yogasana Sport Association, noted that such competitions can significantly benefit students’ higher education and career prospects. He also mentioned that Yogasana has been included as a sport in the Asian Games.

Around 250 students from various schools across the district are competing in different categories. The first day featured traditional yoga competitions for Under-9 Junior and Under-14 Sub-Junior Boys and Girls. Winners will be recognized at the Valedictory Ceremony scheduled for Sunday.
