Pilot, three passengers hurt after private helicopter crashes in Pune

Pune: A private helicopter crashed near Kondhavle village in Pune district on Saturday, leaving the pilot and three passengers injured. The aircraft, an AW 139, was en route from Mumbai to Hyderabad when the crash occurred.

Reports suggest that adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and heavy rainfall, may have contributed to the incident. The helicopter was operated by Global Vectra Helicorp.

The pilot, identified as Anand, sustained injuries and has been transported to Sadar Hospital for treatment. The three passengers, although injured, are reported to be in stable condition with minor injuries.

Local residents quickly arrived at the scene to assist the injured, and a team from the Paud police station also responded promptly. According to police spokesperson SP Pankaj Deshmukh, “The pilot is currently hospitalized, while the passengers have sustained only minor injuries and are expected to recover.”

This incident follows a similar event in May, when a private helicopter, bound to pick up Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Sushma Andhare, crashed upon landing. In that case, the pilot survived by jumping from the helicopter before the crash.
