Ranchi: Professors working on contract for B.Ed and M.Ed courses across Jharkhand staged a one-day dharna and peaceful demonstration at Zakir Hussain Park, in front of Raj Bhavan. The protest, organized by the union’s patron Dr. Tanveer Yunus, President Dr. Manoj Kumar, and Executive President Dr. Sanjay Bhuiyan, aimed to press for the creation of permanent posts, adjustments, and a full pay scale for these educators.
Dr. Tanveer Yunus, patron of the association, called on the government to provide equal pay scales for B.Ed and M.Ed professors to reflect their equal workload. He urged the state government to establish permanent positions in all government colleges and universities offering B.Ed and M.Ed programs and to grant full pay scales to the professors. Dr. Yunus emphasized that these professors have played a crucial role in the state’s education and teacher training sectors, particularly since Jharkhand’s separation.
Dr. Sachin Kumar, General Secretary of the association, highlighted the significant contributions and challenges faced by B.Ed and M.Ed professors, demanding government action for their adjustment. The demonstration saw participation from hundreds of professors representing all seven state universities. The participants vowed to continue their movement until their demands for a full pay scale and permanent status are met.
