Seminar Explores Indian Knowledge Tradition and NEP 2020 at SBU

Ranchi: Sarala Birla University’s (SBU) Auditorium was the venue for an insightful seminar focused on “Indian Knowledge Tradition in Technical and Higher Education and Its Linkages with NAAC and NEP 2020,” organized by the IQAC of SBU in collaboration with NIT Jamshedpur.

The day-long event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Director of IQAC and Dean of the Department of Commerce and Management, who delivered the welcome address and outlined the seminar’s objectives.

Chief guest Swami Bhaveshanand Ji, Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, praised the National Education Policy (NEP) as essential for modernizing the Indian education system. He advocated for integrating elements of Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha to foster the spirit of ‘Joy of Giving’ alongside traditional values of renunciation and penance.

In his address, Professor Gopal Pathak, Director General of SBU, underscored the importance of NEP implementation and the gradual progress of the nation, stressing the need for utilizing Sanskrit for enriched education. Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur, highlighted the benefits NEP offers students across various departments, deeming it highly practical.

S.B. Dandin, Vice-Chancellor of SBU, reflected on India’s age-old traditions and the value of assimilating their positive aspects. Dean Dr. Neelima Pathak discussed the significance of the ancient Gurukul tradition, emphasizing its contribution to knowledge.

The technical session featured contributions from Dr. Rajkumar Sharma, Principal of Doranda College; Dr. Smriti Singh, Deputy Director of Vocational Courses at Ranchi University; Dr. Mohammad Hasan, Associate Professor at NIT Jamshedpur; and Dr. Abhishek Chauhan of SBU, who elaborated on various facets of Indian knowledge traditions.

The event was attended by several notable figures, including Ashok Asthana, Dr. Goutam Tanty, Dr. B. Samanta, Dr. Nitya Garg, Dr. Arohi Anand, and Vidya Jha. Pro Chancellor CA Bijay Kumar Dalal and Dr. Pradip Kumar Varma extended their best wishes for the seminar’s success.
