TTE arrested for molesting a female passenger on Ganga-Damodar Express

Gaya: A train ticket examiner (TTE) with Eastern Central Railway has been arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Gaya for allegedly molesting a 20-year-old passenger on the Ganga-Damodar Express. The incident occurred late Thursday night near Chakand railway station, according to Sushil Kumar, Circle Inspector with GRP Gaya.

The female passenger, who was traveling from Patna to Gaya, reported that the TTE, identified as Rohan Kumar from Dalmia Nagar in Rohtas district, began molesting her under the pretense of issuing a ticket. After the train departed Chakand station around midnight, Kumar allegedly coerced the passenger to come near the washroom to handle the ticketing. Once there, he attempted to molest her. The victim managed to escape and reported the incident to GRP personnel on board, leading to the TTE’s immediate arrest.

The passenger has filed an FIR at Gaya Railway Station detailing the assault. She resides in Bodh Gaya with her husband, and her father-in-law works with BMP Bodh Gaya.

Inspector Kumar confirmed that Rohan Kumar has been detained and is facing charges based on the FIR. He emphasized that the case is under investigation and that the accused has been sent to jail. Following the incident, Kumar instructed the GRP escort team to enhance patrolling and pledged to liaise with senior officials for increased security. Special forces will be deployed on trains passing through Gaya Junction and other key railway stations to ensure passenger safety.
