Gaya: District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan SM held a crucial meeting on Thursday to finalize preparations for the Pitru Paksha Mela 2024. The meeting involved key officials from the cleanliness, drinking water, and sanitation cells.
Dr. Tyagarajan emphasized the need for continuous cleaning across several critical areas, including the temple premises, Devghat, and Sita Kund. He noted that during the Pinddaan rituals, pilgrims often leave behind pind materials, which can create hazards if not managed properly. He stressed the importance of maintaining rigorous cleanliness and monitoring systems to ensure safety and hygiene.
Additionally, Dr. Tyagarajan instructed that all accommodation areas, parking lots, and toilets should be consistently cleaned. He highlighted that effective cleanliness management significantly impacts the experience of pilgrims from both domestic and international locations.
The DM also addressed the status of drinking water facilities, noting that all stalls have been repaired and are fully operational. To prevent slips in the temple sanctum, net carpets have been installed.
The Additional Collector and Disaster Officer reported that water levels in local rivers and ponds are sufficient. In response, comprehensive safety measures have been implemented, including the deployment of SDRF teams, divers, and boats across various locations.
Specific arrangements include:Four SDRF teams, four divers, and one boat at Suryakund, Pita Maheshwar, and Brahmasarovar; Two SDRF teams and four divers each at Ramshila and Pretshila; Four SDRF teams, four divers, and one boat at Vaitarni Sarovar; Twelve SDRF teams, two boats, and ten divers at Sita Kund and Devghat; Two SDRF teams, four divers, and one boat at Rukmani Pond.
These measures are designed to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the Mela, preventing any potential incidents and enhancing the overall experience for visitors.
