Jamshedpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticized the ruling coalition in Jharkhand during a rally in Jamshedpur on Sunday, ahead of the state assembly elections. He attacked the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), urging voters to recognize these groups as threats to Jharkhand’s future.
Modi’s visit faced delays due to bad weather, his helicopter could not fly and forced him to travel to Jamshedpur by road for around 150 kilometers form Ranchi—a rare situation for a Prime Minister.
Despite the challenges, he spoke at the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Parivartan rally, recalling how past support from voters helped overcome opposition lies. “You have faith in me, and I will do everything I can to keep that trust,” he said.
He praised the BJP’s efforts in Jharkhand, including celebrating Lord Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary and setting up Eklavya Vidyalayas for tribal education. Modi criticized previous governments for not investing in Jharkhand’s development and focusing only on exploiting its mineral resources.
Modi also expressed concerns about illegal immigration in Jharkhand, claiming that the influx of Bangladeshi Rohingyas is affecting the state’s demographics and increasing crime. He accused the JMM and Congress of supporting these immigrants and manipulating votes based on religion.
Additionally, Modi criticized the JMM-Congress coalition for failing to address unemployment and urban employment issues. He highlighted the loss of more than 15 youths due to poor recruitment systems and called for a change in government.
He also took the opportunity to criticize Congress for its past failures and alleged corruption, reassuring that the BJP will fulfill its promises, including providing homes for the poor and supporting small farmers.
Earlier, at Ranchi airport, Modi launched six Vande Bharat trains via video conference, including new routes like Berhampur-Tata and Howrah-Bhagalpur.
