Patna: As he prepares for his party’s foundation day celebration on October 2, political strategist-turned-Jan Suraj chief Prashant Kishor has pledged to lift Bihar’s liquor ban within one hour if his party comes to power.
Kishor emphasized in an interview with ANI, that no additional preparations are needed for the event, stating, “We have been preparing for the last two years… If the Jan Suraj government is formed, we will end the liquor ban within one hour.”
Kishor also commented on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav’s ongoing public tour, offering his support: “My best wishes to him. At least he is engaging with the public.”
Addressing the ongoing dispute between RJD and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, particularly following Yadav’s assertion that Kumar had apologized for aligning with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Kishor criticized both leaders. “This issue between Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav is irrelevant to the people of Bihar,” Kishor said. “Both have caused harm to the state over the past 30 years. We urge them both to step aside.”
Earlier, Kishor had criticized Tejashwi Yadav’s qualifications and leadership capabilities, questioning his ability to drive the state’s development. Speaking to a crowd in Bhojpur, Kishor remarked, “If someone couldn’t pursue education due to lack of resources, it’s understandable. But if someone’s parents were Chief Ministers and they couldn’t pass the 10th grade, it reflects poorly on their approach to education.”
Kishor also took a jab at Yadav’s educational background, stating, “A 9th-grade dropout is claiming to lead Bihar’s development. He doesn’t understand the difference between GDP and GDP growth, yet he asserts that he knows how Bihar will improve.”
Finally, Kishor raised doubts about Yadav’s credentials, suggesting that his leadership role in the RJD is largely due to his family connections rather than personal merit.
