Dhanbad: IIT-ISM recently hosted the Internal Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024, organized by the Naresh Vashisht Centre for Tinkering and Innovation (NVCTI) at the institute’s Central Library. The event attracted over 260 students, who formed teams to address a variety of real-world challenges in both software and hardware categories.
Participants dedicated themselves to crafting innovative solutions based on problem statements from various industries.
“The creativity and commitment demonstrated by the students reflect the emerging talent of future engineers and innovators,” said Professor Saurabh Srivastava, the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for SIH 2024.
He added that the top teams from this internal competition will represent IIT-ISM Dhanbad at the national-level Smart India Hackathon 2024, competing against the brightest minds across the country.
Professor Alok Kumar Das, Dean of Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship (IIE) at IIT-ISM, highlighted that the internal SIH 2024 aimed to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. “This event empowers students to contribute meaningfully to society through technology and creative problem-solving,” he noted.
The Smart India Hackathon is a premier nationwide initiative designed to foster innovation and practical problem-solving among students. It provides a platform for developing creative solutions to industrial challenges and bridges the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application.
Participants benefit from collaboration with industry experts, government bodies, and other stakeholders, making SIH a distinctive blend of academia, industry, and government.
