Kanpur: A devastating fire at a mattress factory in Kanpur has resulted in the deaths of six workers, with three others in critical condition. The incident has sparked outrage among the victims’ families, who are demanding compensation and accountability of the management.
Authorities have filed a case against the factory’s three directors, citing negligence as a contributing factor in the tragedy. The injured workers were quickly taken to local hospitals for treatment following the blaze.
Emergency services, including a police team led by Superintendent of Police BBGTS Murthy and fire brigade units, responded promptly to the scene at RP Polyplast Private Limited on Khanpur Khadanja Road in Rania. Unfortunately, six workers succumbed to their injuries before reaching the hospital, while four others sustained injuries, three of whom are reported to be in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by a short circuit. The police have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, aiming to ensure accountability and justice for the affected families. The tragedy has left a cloud of grief and chaos in the workers’ community, highlighting serious concerns over workplace safety standards.
