Jharkhand Pradesh Sanyukt Shikshak Morcha Welcomes Proposal to Raise Retirement Age to 62 Years

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Pradesh Sanyukt Shikshak Morcha has expressed its gratitude to Chief Minister Hemant Soren for the state government’s proposal to increase the retirement age of state employees, including teachers, from 60 to 62 years. In a joint statement, State Convenor Amin Ahmed, Vijay Bahadur Singh, Spokesperson Arun Kumar Das, and Convenor Ashutosh Kumar called the move a progressive step in the interest of the state.

The Morcha, representing various teacher associations such as the Rashtriya Shikshak Mahasangh and the Jharkhand State Urdu Teachers Association, had previously urged the government to meet several demands. These include raising the retirement age, introducing a cashless health insurance scheme for state employees, and ensuring economic justice for teachers by providing the benefits of the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme.

The Teachers’ Morcha acknowledged the Chief Minister’s efforts, particularly his decision to bring employees under the old pension scheme, as a positive sign for state employees. Teachers across the state remain hopeful that the Chief Minister will address these long-standing demands.
