Dussehra Celebrations Ignite Nationwide Festivities and Joy

New Delhi: Saturday marked a vibrant celebration of Dussehra across the country, as enthusiastic crowds gathered to witness the ceremonial burning of effigies of the demon king Ravana, culminating ten days of festivities filled with rituals, songs, dances, and processions.

In open fields, effigies of Ravana, along with those of his brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghnad, were set ablaze, drawing cheers from onlookers as firecrackers lit up the night sky.

President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the celebrations at the Red Fort Parade Ground, receiving a warm welcome from the Sri Dharmik Leela Committee organizers.

Dussehra commemorates the victory of Lord Rama over the ten-headed demon king Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.

Prime Minister Modi extended his greetings to the nation on Vijayadashami through a post on X, stating, “Best wishes to the countrymen on Vijayadashami. With the blessings of Maa Durga and Lord Shri Ram, I wish that all of you achieve victory in every sphere of life.”

President Murmu described Dussehra as a symbol of truth and morality, encouraging citizens to stand for justice. “On this auspicious occasion, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all. This festival signifies the victory of justice over injustice and our commitment to truth and morality. Let us pledge to uphold justice even in challenging times. May this holy festival bring happiness and prosperity to everyone, guiding our nation toward development,” she wrote on X.

Additionally, Ram Leela performances, depicting the life of Lord Ram, were staged in cities, towns, and villages, with actors donning costumes of characters from the Ramayana, bringing the revered Hindu epic to life.
