‘Grave mistake…’

… Netanyahu Issues Stark Warning to Hezbollah Following Drone Attack

Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has delivered a pointed warning to Hezbollah in the wake of an attempted drone attack on his residence, calling the incident a “grave mistake.” The attack is seen as an alleged assassination attempt against both Netanyahu and his wife, prompting a strong response from the Israeli leader.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Netanyahu described Hezbollah as “Iran’s proxy” and emphasized that such actions will not dissuade Israel from its commitment to combat threats to its citizens. “The attempt by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my wife today was a grave mistake,” he stated, asserting that Israel will persist in its “just war” against its adversaries to ensure national security.

Netanyahu also addressed Iran and its allies, known as the ‘Axis of Resistance,’ which includes Hezbollah, Hamas, and Yemen’s Houthis. He reiterated Israel’s determination to achieve its military objectives and reshape the regional security landscape. “I say to Iran and its proxies in its axis of evil: Anyone who tries to harm Israel’s citizens will pay a heavy price,” he warned. “We will continue to eliminate the terrorists and those who dispatch them; we will bring our hostages home from Gaza; and we will return our citizens who live on our northern border safely to their homes.”

The drone incident occurred shortly after Hamas confirmed the death of its leader, Yahya Sinwar, in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. According to the Israeli military, three drones were launched from Lebanon on the same day, two of which were intercepted. Netanyahu and his wife were not at their residence in Caesarea at the time of the attack, and no injuries were reported.

Sinwar, who was linked to the planning of the October 7, 2023, attacks that resulted in over 1,200 Israeli fatalities and more than 250 hostages taken, had taken over as Hamas chief following the assassination of his predecessor in Tehran.
