Five-Day Faculty Leadership Training Program Kicks Off at IIT ISM, Dhanbad

Dhanbad: A five-day training program aimed at enhancing leadership skills among faculty members commenced today at IIT-ISM Dhanbad. The initiative, part of the esteemed Malviya Mission Teacher Training Program, took place at the Conference Hall of the Institute Innovation Hub (i2h).

Inaugurating the program, Professor Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT-ISM, emphasized the importance of adaptability as a key trait for effective leadership.

He urged participants to cultivate relationships not only with students and fellow faculty but also with their institutional heads. “The management of relations among these three stakeholders is crucial, and it relies on the situational adaptability skills of faculty members,” Professor Mishra remarked, highlighting the significant impact of faculty wisdom and skills.

Professor MK Singh, Dean of Academics, also spoke at the event, noting that while leadership is an inherent quality of educators, it is essential to extend this leadership beyond the classroom to engage with the broader community. He referenced the legacy of Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, founder of Banaras Hindu University, as an inspiration for the program.

Professor Somnath Chattopadhyay from the Department of Mechanical Engineering expressed that the program will facilitate a valuable exchange of ideas among participants from various institutions across the country.

In her welcome address, Professor Mrinalini Pandey, Coordinator of the Nurturing Future Leadership Program, stated, “This program is designed to help each participant explore their potential and become a visionary, empathetic, and effective leader.” She underscored the imperative nature of leadership skills in today’s dynamic academic landscape.

Participants in the program include faculty from several institutions, including the Central University of Kashmir, Central Sanskrit University, Jamia Millia University, and Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University, among others.
