NUSRL Hosts Documentary Filmmaking Workshop

Ranchi: The Centre for Study and Research in Tribal Rights (CSRTR) at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, has successfully concluded a four-day documentary filmmaking workshop in partnership with Team Akhra.

The workshop, which commenced on October 21 and wrapped up today, provided students with comprehensive insights into various facets of documentary filmmaking, including framing, sound preparation, and storytelling techniques.

Renowned experts Meghnath, Biju Toppo, and Rupesh Sahu led the sessions, guiding participants through the intricate process of creating impactful documentaries. On the final day, students formed teams to produce four documentary films on topics such as campus life, the significance of friendship, and strategies for managing academic pressure. Experts also provided valuable feedback on how to enhance these films.

During the inaugural ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Professor Ashok R. Patil highlighted the importance of film as a medium for students to express their viewpoints, emphasizing that these skills could significantly improve their work. CSRTR Faculty Convenor Dr. Jisu Ketan Pattanaik encouraged students to use their newfound knowledge to better understand and communicate important issues.

Faculty member Ram Chandra Oraon expressed gratitude to Team Akhra for introducing students to the art of filmmaking and sharing essential techniques. On the concluding day, students had the opportunity to engage with Team Akhra, posing questions that were thoroughly addressed.

Throughout the workshop, participants also viewed several exemplary documentaries produced by Team Akhra, further enriching their understanding of film production principles.
