Dhanbad: A vibrant voter awareness campaign was held at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on Wednesday evening, featuring a variety of engaging activities. The event, organized in collaboration with the Systematic Voter’s Education for Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Cell of the Dhanbad district administration, took place at the Penman Auditorium.
The program kicked off with a street corner play by the Abhay Dramatics Club, which highlighted the importance of voting in a democratic society. The 10-minute play, led by Jyani Khushal and performed by seven students, aimed to encourage citizens to actively participate in the electoral process. This was followed by a quiz competition conducted by the IIT (ISM) Quiz Club, testing participants’ knowledge of the electoral system with 15 questions.
The campaign also featured a formal oath-taking ceremony, where faculty, staff, and their families pledged to vote in the upcoming elections. The oath was administered by Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner Shri Ravi Raj Sharma and IIT (ISM) Director Prof. Sukumar Mishra.
In addition, 18 members from five campus clubs were felicitated for their ongoing efforts in a continuous cleanliness drive across the institute. The volunteers from the Scolomin Club, Staff Recreation Club, Sampurna Ladies Club, and Deepti Ladies Club were recognized by Prof. Mishra, Deputy Director Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, and Registrar Shri Prabodh Pandey for their contributions to maintaining cleanliness on campus.
Ravi Raj Sharma also took the opportunity to promote the Voter Helpline App and the use of Form 6, urging attendees to vote in the upcoming elections on November 20. Prof. Mishra emphasized the vital role of voter participation in strengthening democracy.
The event served as a reminder of the collective responsibility to engage in the democratic process, with both fun and informative activities to inspire greater voter turnout.
