Amrit Sagar Donates INR 1 Crore to IIT-ISM Centenary Fund

Dhanbad: Amrit Sagar Chopra, an alumnus of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad from the Mining Engineering batch of 1961, has made a generous donation of INR 1 crore to support the institute’s Centenary Celebrations.

The cheque was handed over during a recent visit to Bengaluru, where it was received by Prof. R M Bhattacharjee, Dean of International Relations & Alumni Affairs, and  Mritunjay Sharma, Assistant Registrar (IRAA) of IIT (ISM).

This latest contribution follows Chopra’s earlier donation of INR 1 crore in 2023, bringing his total support to the Centenary Fund to an impressive INR 2 crore. The donation reflects his continued commitment to his alma mater as IIT (ISM) Dhanbad prepares for its landmark 100-year anniversary.

The leadership at IIT (ISM) expressed heartfelt appreciation for  Chopra’s philanthropy.

Professor Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, praised Chopra’s generosity, noting, “An alumnus like Amrit brings immense pride to the institution. His significant contributions are a testament to his enduring bond with IIT (ISM) and serve as an inspiration to our entire alumni community.”

Professor Bhattacharjee also conveyed the institution’s gratitude, acknowledging  Chopra’s steadfast support for IIT (ISM).

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad will officially begin its Centenary Celebrations on December 9, 2024, two years ahead of its 100th anniversary in 2026. The celebrations will feature a series of 100 programs, honoring the institute’s century-long legacy of excellence in technical education in India.
