Ranchi: In a bid to fortify his administration, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expanded his cabinet on Thursday, inducting 11 new ministers. The expansion reflects a diverse representation from the Congress, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
The newly sworn-in ministers include four from Congress, six from JMM, and one from RJD. Among them, senior Congress leader Radha Krishna Kishore was sworn in alongside 10 other ministers at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi. The oath was administered by Governor Santosh Gangwar.
Notable Congress leaders taking office include Deepika Pandey Singh, Shilpi Neha Tirkey, and Dr. Irfan Ansari. The six JMM representatives who joined the cabinet are Deepak Birua, Chamra Linda, Ramdas Soren, Hafizul Hassan, Yogendra Prasad, and Sudivya Kumar Sonu. RJD’s Sanjay Yadav also took the oath of office.
Additionally, Stephen Marandi was appointed as the acting Speaker (Pro tem Speaker) of the Jharkhand Assembly.
This cabinet expansion marks the completion of the cabinet formation process after Hemant Soren’s return to power. As the leader of the INDIA alliance in Jharkhand, Soren has finalized his team to help steer the state through upcoming challenges.
The move is seen as an effort to strengthen the ruling coalition and ensure more effective governance.
